Cardinal Glass

Yale Mechanical replaced approximately 1,800 feet of carbon steel cooling water return piping with new 14-inch stainless steel piping. This work was performed during the plant shutdown project working 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The majority of this piping is located under the tin bath where the temperature exceeds 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Yale completed the work ahead of schedule and under budget.

Hiawatha Collegiate High School

Hiawatha Academies’ mission of empowering students with the knowledge, character, and leadership skills to graduate from college and serve the common good has them growing rapidly. They turned to Yale Mechanical to manage the complete design/build process for their new two-story school – Hiawatha Collegiate High School. We managed the design and installation of the entire HVAC system, including constant-volume rooftop units (RTUs) that serve the classrooms, administrative offices, catering kitchen and gymnasium. Our plumbing work encompassed domestic and waste water piping for the catering kitchen and large restroom facilities, as well as acid waste and natural gas piping for teacher and student stations in the science rooms.

Coca-Cola Bottling Plant

The air compressors for the blow mold machines that manufacture the plastic bottles at Coca-Cola’s bottling plant need to maintain consistent pressure and hygiene. The high-pressure system (which feeds the blow mold machines) operates at 640 psi, while the low-pressure system operates between 100 and 125 psi. The 40 high-pressure air lines for both systems are also subject to air purity requirements throughout manufacturing.

Due to the age of the existing equipment, Yale Mechanical’s millwrights and pipefitters worked together to remove both compressors and install a new foundation and drains before replacing the entire system with an Atlas Copco© low- and high-pressure system. The high-pressure pipe is welded stainless steel schedule 40, while the low-pressure pipe is welded stainless steel schedule 10. We also installed a new 250-ton, glycol-filled cooling system for the air compressors with welded stainless steel schedule 10 pipe.

Eaton Corporation

Eaton Corporation provides power management solutions worldwide, including hydraulics products for mobile and industrial applications. When a deteriorated test cell cooling loop at the corporation’s hydraulics testing facility in Eden Prairie called for replacement, Eaton called for Yale Mechanical.

The scope of the project – which included wholesale replacement of the cooling loop serving the 29 test cells – demanded that the testing facility remain operational during the replacement. Rather than shut down the entire system, we kept portions of the old system running while replacing the outdated cells one by one. To ensure the best value and long-term viability, we installed new, corrosion-resistant Aquatherm Blue Pipe, featuring heat fusion connections (rather than flanged or welded) preformed by Yale’s own HVAC team. The result of the project was improved cooling operations without impacting Eaton’s operational capacity.

81 On Seventh

Recently restored inside and out, 81 On Seventh offers commercial office space that’s both historic and high-tech. When the property owners were looking to renovate the space, they turned to Yale Mechanical for the complete design/build of the HVAC system. With the majority of ductwork exposed, this project presented the unique challenge of incorporating HVAC components into the distinctive aesthetics of the space; meaning it had to be functional as well as pleasing to the eye. We installed a District Energy system that provides hot water for heating and chilled water for cooling. Each floor also includes one VFD powered premium efficiency 12,000 CFM air handling unit with VAV boxes and controls.

Park Nicollet Clinic

With more than 8,200 employees and more than 1,000 physicians on staff, Park Nicollet is one of the largest health care providers in Minnesota. When the company needed someone to design and build a complete mechanical system (including sheet metal, pipefitting and plumbing) for its brand new 60,000 sq. ft. clinic, Yale Mechanical stepped in.

We were involved in all aspects of these systems from start to finish and from the ground up. The building features state-of-the-art, high efficiency equipment—including the HVAC and lighting operating on a fully automated system.
