Not only are the employees at Yale Mechanical focused on making buildings work better, they also help make our community better. They recently partnered with local businesses and a volunteer group to help break district collection records during a recent Bloomington Public Schools food drive.

Bloomington’s public schools and 14 other organizations – from civic partners to area businesses – amassed 67,828 pounds of non-perishable food items, including cash conversions that estimate each dollar donated can purchase up to five pounds of food. All proceeds went to Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People (VEAP), a nonprofit dedicated to serving low-income households and individuals in Bloomington, Edina and Richfield.

In addition to exceeding its goal of 60,000 pounds, this year’s collection beat the previous record of 67,020 pounds set in 2013. Since 2009, the drive has brought in 335,200 pounds of food for communities in need.
